Neil Browne has been a cycling coach for Wenzel Coaching for nearly ten years in Southern California and other West Coast areas. He has over 17 years of road, mountain and cyclocross riding and racing experience.
As a coach, Neil has prepared riders for numerous national championships and his riders have won several state championships and national age group medals as well as made the upgrade from cat 5 to cat 2 on the road. As coach of the California State University Long Beach Cycling Team during their 1998 and 1999 road seasons, Neil was instrumental in qualifying two riders for the 1999 national championships. He also has been the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training Cycling Coach in the past for the greater Los Angeles area, having coached many riders to ride their first century and ultra endurance rides. He is currently a mentor for the Hincapie Sportswear Development Team.
Neil grew up in a cycling family, listening to the tales of his father’s experience as a professional racer in Ireland. Neil continues to be a competitive cyclist and freelance journalist. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and has done post-graduate studies in Sports Psychology. His journalism career has included 5 years as the editorial director of ROAD Magazine.
Neil is available for all levels of Wenzel Coaching programs as well as bike fittings, threshold testing, one on one consultation, seminars, camps, and training appointments. He is available for seminars, camps, clinics, and team direction on a contractual basis.
